The Test Site is not the only Nevada site the White Card covers.

The Department of Energy ran more than one operation in Nevada. If you worked at Tonopah, Project Shoal, the Central Nevada Test Area, Yucca Mountain, or the North Las Vegas office, you have a place in the same program.

The covered Nevada sites.

  • Tonopah Test Range (1956–present) — ballistics and testing for the AEC and DOE.
  • Nevada Site Office, North Las Vegas (1962–present) — the command and administrative office.
  • Project Shoal (1962–1964) — underground test near Fallon.
  • Central Nevada Test Area (1967–1974) — the “Faultless” site in Hot Creek Valley.
  • Yucca Mountain (1987–present) — the DOE geologic repository study.

It is one program with one card. What differs by site is how a claim is proven: the Test Site has Special Exposure Cohort periods; at the other sites a claim is built through NIOSH dose reconstruction. Either way, an accepted illness brings the same lifetime medical benefits, at no cost to you.
